Regulatory expert novel foods
Description
Isabelle Laquiere graduated with a degree in Bioscience Engineering at the Catholic University of Leuven in 1997. She spent first seven years gaining experience in academia, the pharmaceutical sector and agrifood industry. In 2005, she joined the Federal Public Service of Public health, where she co-coordinated Belgium’s first National food and health plan. Since 2013, she has been responsible for regulatory affairs across multiple domains including nutrition and health claims, flavourings, food for specific groups, allergens, and more recently also sustainable food systems with focus on food safety. Since 2015, Isabelle has also overseen novel food policy alongside Jean Pottier. Together, they represent Belgium in the European working group on novel foods and the standing committee on general food law and novel foods. She also serves as Belgium’s delegate to the Codex Committee of Nutrition and Special Dietary uses.
