Description
Dr. Sjouke Van Poucke is the founder of SYN+, a consultancy firm specializing in the poultry and swine industry. With a team of three technicians and two veterinarians, the company provides on-site farm support, conducts climate and hygiene audits, and carries out contract research and applied studies. Since 2022, SYN+ has also been recognized by Belpork as an antibiotic coach.
After earning her veterinary degree in 2007, Dr. Van Poucke obtained a PhD in veterinary virology in 2013. She then gained expertise in vaccine applications while working in the pharmaceutical industry. Passionate about infectious disease diagnostics and epidemiology, she is particularly interested in integrating big data and sensor technology into animal production. In 2017, she joined the European Certified Porcine Veterinarian program at Ghent University and, in 2021, completed the Vlerick Business School Masterclass on AI and big data in business. Since 2021, she has collaborated with veterinary practices to develop data-driven projects in the poultry industry, focusing on traceability, animal welfare, and productivity.
Dr. Van Poucke is a co-author of several scientific publications and has presented her research at national and international conferences.
